Compact digital cameras
Find out what a zoom range of 35-105mm really means, learn why megapixels aren’t as important as you think, and take your pick from nine terrific Right Choice compacts
Pocket digital cameras have made taking pictures easier than ever. And though you won’t have the creative freedom that comes with the benefit of manual adjustments like with DSLRs, many (if not most) of us are happy to make do with a digicam that fits neatly into our bags, is easy to use and can take great pictures on our holidays or special occasions.
If you’re not a photography enthusiast, you won’t want to spend too much time adjusting your camera settings for the perfect shot or shell out extra cash for features you aren’t going to use. So buying a compact makes a lot of sense. They come with a range of features to make sure you’re not ‘shooting in the dark’– image stabilisation for wobbly hand movements, scene modes for different light conditions and automatic modes that do all the work of adjusting settings for you. So if you’re looking for a compact digital camera among the hundreds available, we’ve rounded up the latest from our tests to bring you nine terrific Right Choices.

Canon Powershot S95 is indeed the right choice. Let me know which shop is selling it for 20K (price as published in July11 issue) ?
Well written. Very brief yet good. More on sensors should have been covered to make the readers easily understand the MP myth. Shutter, RAW images etc should also have been covered.
