Do mobile phone signals interfere with aircraft navigation?

The Indian government prohibits the use of mobile phones on board aircraft at all times. This rule was followed by airlines the world over until recently. In 2007, Dubai-based Emirates was the first to allow the use of mobile phones on board at altitudes above 20,000 feet, though not during take-off and landing. In subsequent years, Qantas, Ryanair and Malaysian Airlines have followed suit.
