Here are our first impressions of the latest phones to hit the mobile market
HTC ChaCha
Rs.22,000
This Android smartphone comes with a full Qwerty keyboard with nicely spaced keys that make it easy to use. Sitting on its own, just below the keyboard, is the phone’s dedicated Facebook button. This is context-sensitive, so will perform a different function depending on what you’re doing with the phone at the time. For example, if you press it when viewing a photo, it will prepare the image for upload to your Facebook account. Likewise, hitting it when looking at a web page enables you to share a link instantly with your friends.
The phone is Wi-Fi-enabled and has HSDPA connections. The touchscreen helps with navigation, though its small size significantly reduces the browsing experience.
The large keyboard means that HTC has had to compromise on size of the phone’s touchscreen. So while recent smartphone releases have come with huge 4.3-inch displays, the one here is a more modest 2.6 inches. This means that content can look squashed and web pages can be hard to read.
