Convenience, fitness, fun — there are various reasons to buy a bicycle. Modern cycles are a far cry from the ones you rode as a child – they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, adapted to the specific purpose they were designed for. Therefore, the first question you need to ask yourself if you’re thinking of buying a bicycle is: ‘What am I going to use it for?’ Ananya Dutta, a student, doesn’t own a bicycle but hired one to participate in the Mumbai Cyclothon in February. She was absolutely thrilled to take part in the event, and said afterwards that she would love to buy a cycle for her daily commute, as it is environment-friendly.
