Which mobile phones have the best cameras and video recorders? In this report, we review some popular phones with cameras of 5Mp resolution or more

Mobile phone cameras have come a long way from their early days, and some now rival dedicated digital cameras on picture quality. And even if the pictures from your phone’s camera can’t match those of a proper digital camera, it still has several advantages over the latter.

The foremost of these is convenience – you don’t need to carry two separate devices. Another advantage is the built-in connectivity that your phone offers, which is useful for instantly sharing your photos with friends via MMS or uploading them to photo sharing sites such as Flickr.

Some mobile phone manufacturers have been much better than others at integrating camera features into their handsets. Good camera phones have only a few technical disadvantages – mainly the lack of an optical zoom and poorer detail when shooting pictures in low light.

In this report, we take a look at the latest camera phones with a resolution of 5Mp or more. We also tell you how you can best use your mobile camera and video recorder, how to share your photos quickly, and how to edit your videos.
