We investigate whether the voltage from your mobile phone can cause an explosion at a petrol pump

It’s quite likely that you have received a phone call while at a petrol pump. It’s also likely that you didn’t answer it or were asked not to, since petrol pumps discourage the use of mobile phones. The reason, they say, is that even the low voltage produced by a mobile phone can cause petrol to ignite.
